Parking relief is on the way for downtown and West Annapolis with Annapolis Transit's new, free, Navy-Blue shuttle starting July 27. In addition to the popular State Shuttle, which will now also be free both ways, the Navy-Blue shuttle will serve mainly visitors who can park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium Park and Ride all day for only $4.00, but can choose either shuttle for free without having to worry about traffic, parking, or feeding a meter.

The City of Annapolis, in agreement with the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), will receive $1.00 per car from the parking fee to help fund the Navy-Blue shuttle route.

Mayor Ellen O. Moyer said, "This cooperative partnership with the NAAA, who operates the largest parking facility in the city, makes it possible to link the Academy, one of the major destinations for both visitors and employees, with downtown and West Annapolis. It is a winning combination for us, and for the residents and businesses, and we are very grateful to the NAAA for making it possible."

The Navy-Blue Shuttle departs Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium Park and Ride on the hour and half hour going toward Church Circle, and arriving at Gate One of the Naval Academy at :10 and :40 after the hour. It goes up Main Street to Church Circle again, and down College Avenue and King George Street, arriving in West Annapolis at :20 and :50 after the hour where it serves businesses, shops, medical offices, and restaurants. West Annapolis Shuttle stops are located on Giddings Ave., Melvin Ave., and Ridgely Ave..

The Navy-Blue Shuttle operates year-round Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. From May through September the shuttle will extend its hours to include Saturday and Sunday service from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..

The State Shuttle, which is familiar to commuters and visitors, operates year-round Monday through Friday. During rush hours it runs every five minutes and serves commuters between Church Circle and the Stadium Park and Ride. At other times, the shuttle runs every 10 to 15 minutes.
