“Our goal is to offer our guests a complete Annapolis experience,” said Debbie Gosselin, President of Annapolis Tours and Watermark Cruises when asked about the newly expanded ‘Bay Lighthouses Tour’. “We asked our customers what they wanted and they told us they want to spend more time on the water exploring the treasures of the Chesapeake Bay”, said Gosselin.
Annapolis Tours and Watermark Cruises responded to this request with a newly expanded 2½ hour boat tour that explores the wonders of the Bay Bridge and three of the Bay’s Lighthouses for the 2005 season. Guests board the company’s new 65’custom-built motor-catamaran, Lady Sarah, pass under the twin spans of the Bay Bridge and by 3 lighthouses: Sandy Point Shoal, Baltimore Harbor Lighthouse and Thomas Point Lighthouse.
The cruise offers a live narration to entertain and inform guests. Turn of the Century lighthouse keeper, Jericho McCauley, portrayed by interpretive specialist Cliff Long, shares the history and development of the three lights along with highlights of the development of the US lighthouse service in general. Peppered with humor, music, and tales of famous keepers, the extended lighthouse tour promises not only a memorable cruise, but a journey into the past, present and future as well. When asked about the tour, Cliff Long replied, “the goal, really, is to make each tour ‘glow’. I don’t want to overwhelm our guests with facts just share the rich history and let them enjoy the ride.”
Enjoy the ride is exactly what they’ve done. “We are seeing record numbers on this tour and our ‘Day on the Bay’ cruise to St Michaels”, said Gosselin. “Many people are coming up to our crew and telling them that they had such a great time the first time they’ve returned with family and friends.”
The ‘Bay Lighthouses Tour’ is offered on Sundays from May 29-September 4 and on Monday May 30, July 4 and September 5 from the Annapolis City Dock at 12:15pm and 3:15pm. |
