Watermark, the premier tour, charter and cruise company of Annapolis, Maryland, announces a partnership with the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating programs and opportunities that support and encourage greater interest in African-American culture, art and history. This unique partnership is designed to deliver a series of African-American Heritage tours on land and water to all who wish to learn and experience the rich and diverse history of African Americans in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to offer the best interpretive programming of the rich history of African Americans in this region. The quest will result in an authentic and meaningful experience for our guests", explained Debbie Gosselin, President of Watermark. Leonard Blackshear, President and Founder of the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation further explains that "there is a lot of hidden history to be uncovered and experienced in this area and we are committed to bringing a variety of different and innovative products that will appeal to the heritage visitor, school groups, and corporate customers."

Starting February 2006, initial tours include a two hour African-American Heritage walking tour that traces the journey of African Americans in Annapolis and explores their impact both nationally and internationally. Tour highlights include visits to the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial and the Thurgood Marshall Memorial. Additionally, a ninety-minute Insight Tour offers an in-depth look at the purpose and multiple meanings of the three part Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial.

Connie Del Signore, President and CEO of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Visitors Bureau says, "This partnership joins together two of our most important assets which when combined, tell the story of our African-American and maritime heritage. I am delighted that Watermark is offering this series of great tours for our 6 million yearly visitors."
