WATERMARK OFFERS CIVIL WAR TOURS

Watermark, Maryland’s premier tour, charter and cruise company, is pleased to announce that its Annapolis Tours ® will now be offering a Civil War Tour of Annapolis.  The Civil War walking tour is a 2 ¼ hour journey through Historic Annapolis.  Travel back to a time when the nation was at war and the city divided, pitting neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend and brother against brother.

The tour was developed by one of Watermark’s long time and knowledgeable squires, Frank Wood.  Mr. Wood is actively involved in living history re-enactments of Civil War battles throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and appeared in the 2003 film about Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Gods and Generals.  He used his enthusiasm for history and his expansive knowledge of the Civil War to create an accurate and engaging program for history buffs and the general public alike.  When asked about his involvement Mr. Wood said “Being a descendent of a Civil War soldier, a Civil War re-enactor, combined with my passion for American History has made the development of this tour a most fulfilling and rewarding endeavor.“

The Civil War Tour will stroll though historic Annapolis and the United States Naval Academy
and uncover many of  the fascinating stories and events that unfolded in Annapolis during the 1800’s, as well as the people involved.  Some significant landmarks include the Kunta Kinte Alex-Haley Memorial, St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, and St. Johns College, which served as a “parole” center and hospital.

Annapolis Tours ® Civil War Tour will be offered as a special event on April 3, May 1, June 5, July 7, August 7, and September 4 departing from the Information Booth at the Annapolis City Dock at 10:00 am.  Tickets can be purchased at www.annapolistours.com.  For school or group discounts call 410.268.7601 x104.  Special group and student pricing is available.
