WATERMARK TAKES STEPS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
Watermark, Maryland’s premiere tour and charter company announces its commitment to help spread environmental awareness in Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay region. This season Watermark will be offering an exciting and interactive program to help educate families about the local environment as well as taking steps to ensure that the company runs as efficiently and as green as possible.
In celebration of Earth Day, Watermark, in partnership with the Annapolis Maritime Museum will offer the first of this season’s Treasure our Waters (TOW), to the public. Treasure our Waters is an environmentally based program focusing on water conservation and the role of wetlands. The program was originally developed to encourage students to maintain an optimal relationship between themselves and the environment however, due to the need for greater environmental awareness, Watermark’s president Debbie Gosselin decided to offer it to local and visiting families as a special event.
Treasure our Waters has been entertaining and educating students and teachers alike since its development in 2007. When asked about the partnership with AMM and Watermark’s commitment to the environment, Ms. Gosselin said “Watermark has a great passion and commitment to the environment, and the Chesapeake Bay. It only seems natural that our organizations partnered to create an engaging program for families. Our goal is to offer a hands-on, interactive experience that will leave a lasting impression on all who experience this program.”
Not to be forgotten is Watermark’s decision to participate in PVA WATERS, the Passenger Vessel Associations voluntary green businesses practices program. The objective of WATERS is to encourage companies like Watermark to run greener businesses and reduce waste by taking small steps to lessen their impact on the environment.
Through small changes and encouraging staff to be more aware, Watermark hopes to lessen their environmental footprint while educating locals about the environment in which we all live.
Treasure our Waters is being offered as a special event on Saturday April 24, & Sunday September 12th at 10:00 am at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. To purchase tickets or for more information go to www.watermarkspecialevents.com or call 410.268.7601 x 100.
